Our Mission

Building good young men, one season at a time

“We're committed to empowering inner-city youth and families in South Minneapolis and across the Twin Cities through the transformative power of football — a safe, inclusive space to build confidence, discipline, and respect.”

612 Promise represents all of 612 — our goal is to bring elite coaching, players, and competition to the field. But it's not just about football, and it's not just about fall. We practice at MLK, Nokomis, and McRae Parks, and draw players from all over South Minneapolis — including families near Armitage, Lynnhurst, Pearl Park, and Linden Hills Park — as we aim to be the preeminent club football program serving South Minneapolis and the greater Twin Cities. We field a full-contact tackle team every fall, and we specialize in flag football and regional 7v7 touch tournaments the rest of the year — giving 3rd–8th graders a home in football twelve months a year. Come to a practice and see the difference.

Frequently asked questions

Why The League?

The League is a Metro area AYFL (American Youth Football League) conference and one of the best traveling youth football conferences in the Twin Cities. Players get stat tracking, leaderboards, and individual achievements posted league-wide, plus championship rings and trophies. It's real exposure, and it lets us play non-conference games against other elite Twin Cities programs too.

What is The League?

The League is a full-contact youth football conference under AYFL (American Youth Football League), serving the Twin Cities metro area.

What if I can't travel, but my kid can?

Most of our games are local, right here in South Minneapolis, or a short regional trip across the Twin Cities & Minnesota. For the occasional out-of-region tournament, we own two 12-passenger vans and can help organize carpools with other families — no player misses a game for lack of a ride.

Is 612 Promise just a fall program?

No — fall is our tackle season in The League (AYFL Metro), but the program runs year-round. Starting in November, we shift into our off-season lineup: flag football, which we specialize in, plus regional 7v7 touch tournaments. It's low-to-no-contact, keeps kids sharp and conditioned, and means 612 Promise players stay on the field — and in the brotherhood — all twelve months.

Why 612 Promise?

We're building something special at MLK, Nokomis, and McRae Parks in South Minneapolis, and we aim to be the preeminent club football program in South Minneapolis and the Twin Cities — not just winning games, but building good young men. Come to a practice and see the difference for yourself.
